Start Your Morning Fresh and Positive

Start Your Morning Fresh and Positive

It’s been a longer winter then we are used to , still running around not making any time for ourselves or friends.  Well time to take it back. Spring is coming, summer will be here and before you know it Winter will be back.  Make the time!
I have been giving myself and extra 15 minutes every morning to do yoga and take deep breaths and think positive. It is really getting me through this last stretch of cold and snow. Treat yourself when you get up because this is your day and it will be great!

10 Feet Clothing

10 Feet Clothing

Some of the trends this spring are stripes, polka dots, brights, and animal prints. If that’s too much for you, accessorize. I find layering is key at this time of year. Off with the winter coats and layer, layer, layer. Pick yourself up in this grey weather and bring out your inner SPRING. Wear something bright whether it’s clothing, an accessory or  a beauty product. I suggest some Butter London Polish in Disco Biscuit a candy colour ring from Stephanie, or a bright felt bag. 10 Feet this season also has some nice neutrals with some prints to accent a simple pair of jeans.

FIG Cookie Recipe

To Celebrate a Great Line made in Canada here is a FIG Recipe

Fig cookies made with butter, pecans, brown sugar, and dried figs. Cook Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

• 1 cup dried figs, cut into small pieces • 1/2 cup water • 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour • 2 teaspoon baking powder

• 1 teaspoon salt • 1/2 cup shortening • 1/2 cup butter, room temperature • 1/2 cup granulated sugar • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed • 1 egg • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract • pecan halves Preparation:

In saucepan over medium heat, bring figs and water to a boil; reduce heat and simmer for about 5 minutes or until thickened, stirring frequently; remove from heat to cool. Preheat oven to 375°.
Sift flour with baking powder and salt. In a mixing bowl cream shortening, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and egg. Add vanilla and continue to beat until creamy. Gradually add flour mixture, then fig mixture, blending well. Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of cookie dough onto greased baking sheets, spacing about 1-inch apart, then press a pecan half into the center of each. Bake 12 to 15 minutes, or just until lightly browned.
Makes about 2 1/2 to 3 dozen fig cookies
